Piano Connections Festival, a week long collaborative event between the University of Iowa SOM and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte was held in Natal, Brazil in September
The closing night event was a performance of People United Should Never be Defeated (1979) by Frederic Rzewski (1938-2021). This multimedia presentation was a concert presented by 12 pianists performing this monumental work.
The Rzewski performers, along with May Baptista (3rd from right) Consul General at the United States Consulate in Recife, Brazil. Sitting with Ksenia is Joana Holonda, chair of the UFRN Piano Department, and a Masters Graduate of UIowa and a former Nosikova Studio member.
